High-speed network provider Colt will expand and enhance its Colt IQ Network in Hong Kong and Singapore this year as part of a wider Asian expansion drive.

The company will commence a network expansion comprising both optical and Ethernet architecture in Singapore in April, with the expansion in Hong Kong to follow later this year.

With the expansion, Colt will link businesses in Hong Kong and Singapore directly to hundreds of international cities via the 100Gbps optimized Colt IQ Network, which is distributed to over 200 data centers and carrier hotels worldwide.

The network is optimized for software defined networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) as well as cloud services.

Colt has been making a concerted effort to expand its presence in Asia in recent months, having recently launched the new Colt IP Access Service for the region and introduced Colt E-LAN services in Singapore in the second half of 2016.

The company also plans to add capacity over key subsea cable routes to its backbone network in the region to improve the reliability and resiliency of the Colt IQ network.

“Last year, Colt demonstrated its commitment to delivering high-bandwidth digital transformationto businesses in Asia that are global yet need local attention, through initiatives including the construction of the Japan National Network,” Colt CCO Asia Kenji Hioki said.

“Today, we continue to build on that investment with our Singapore and Hong Kong expansions, which are designed to deliver the advantages of speed, security, and reliability to businesses looking to connect to markets in Asia and beyond.”
