Ericsson has secured a five-year contract with Telenor Group to deploy LTE networks in Thailand, Bangladesh and Malaysia.

Under the deal, Ericsson will provide equipment for LTE rollouts by Thailand's Dtac, Bangladesh's Grameenphone and Telenor Myanmar.

The contract also covers the transformation of Telenor's 2G and 3G networks in the markets, to help improve network capacity and enhance the mobile broadband experience.

Ericsson separately announced it has been selected as the hyperscale cloud and NFV partner of Indonesia-based XL Axiata.

Ericsson will supply a full stack cloud solution to XL Axiata, including a hyperscale data center, as well as network management, policy control and traffic analysis tools.

The operator is aiming to move to a standardized multivendor virtualization environment to allow it to bring new services to market more quickly, according to XL Axiata president director Dian Siswarini.

“Through this hyperscale cloud initiative with Ericsson, we look forward to putting NFV and cloud to practical use,” he said.

“We will accelerate the delivery of innovative services by exposing network assets, while improving efficiency and reducing risk in how networks are built and operated to meet the needs of the future."
