MCN, Smart roll out SMS-based search in Philippines
Mobile Content Networks has rolled out Smart Search, an SMS-triggred search service, in partnership with Smart Communications in the Philippines. Smart Search is expected to reach 36.9 million subscribers who can use the 7600 shortcode to text queries for downloadable music content, and will be free during an initial promotional period.
BBC World News goes live on iPhone, iPod Touch
BBC World News has launched a new app that allows iPhone and iPod Touch users in 16 European countries to watch the channel live over Wi-Fi and 3G networks. The BBC World News app is available for €7.99 (about $11) and can be downloaded from the iPhone App Store from 3 June.
ROK, BSNL deploy mobile TV in India
ROK Entertainment and BSNL have deployed TINY TV, a nationwide, subscription-based, mobile TV service to be streamed over mass-market 2.5G GPRS across India. The service offers a range of live and on-demand mobile TV channels at 150 rupees (about $2.70) per month payable via reverse-bill SMS.

GyPSii releases Java into China
GeoSentric Oyj\'s GyPSii business unit has released the Java version of its application made especially for consumers in China, but with both Chinese and English language support. The new social networking Java app is aimed at 70% of the 650 million Chinese who own Java-based phones.
