Rounding out a busy week for TD-LTE, ZTE and Sweden's Hi3G have launched what they say is the world's first commercial FDD/TDD dual-mode LTE network.

Hi3G has launched the network in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmo, the companies announced. In March, the operator commissioned ZTE to roll out a dual-mode LTE network across Sweden.

The launch came days after China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced it would start phase two TD-LTE trials later this month, Digitimes reported.

The trials, which are expected to run until June 2012, will test the compatibility of devices using different technology standards with TD-LTE.

Earlier in the week, Nokia Siemens launched what it said was Latin America's first TD-LTE network, for cable and satellite TV operator SKY Brazil.

Also this week, NSN revealed it has been contracted to provide a CDMA/LTE circuit switched fallback solution for Japan's KDDI.
