Israel-based fuel cell energy solution provider GenCell Energy will use this month's Mobile World Congress to showcase its hydrogen-based green power solutions for the telecom industry.

GenCell last year launched the world’s first commercially available fuel cell to synthesize hydrogen-on-demand from liquid ammonia, the A5. GenCell will highlight the A5 as well as its G5 backup power fuel cell solution at the event.

The company also plans to use the event to participate in a series of initiatives aimed at encouraging operators and tower companies to reduce their reliance on diesel power.

GenCell also plans to participate in roundtable discussions organized by the GSMA Beta Labs covering innovation and cost reduction in the 4G era, and has been shortlisted in the GloMo Awards for its A5 solution.

“MWC provides us a great opportunity to meet with mobile network operators and tower management companies to demonstrate the value they can derive from GenCell fuel cell solutions,” GenCell CEO Rami Rashef said.

“In addition to enabling them to say no to diesel and reduce their dependency on fossil fuels, we know that financial savings are a key objective. At a time when the rollout of 5G forecasts a doubling in energy costs, minimizing operating expenses is essential to these businesses.”
