Globe Telecom plans to lift its capex to up to $750 million this year to expand its fixed and mobile data networks.
The company will increase its capex budget beyond the $704 million spent last year, Business World Online reported.
Globe has announced that the capex will mostly be spent on data-related projects such as deploying LTE infrastructure and modernizing fixed-line infrastructure for enterprises and backhaul.
The company has lined up bank loans worth up to 10 billion pesos ($210.7 million) to help finance its capex budget for the year.
The company currently has around 28,300 base stations, and around 18,300 of these are used for LTE.
Last year around 60% of Globe's total capex budget went towards network modernization.
Globe reported a full-year net income growth of 23% to 16.5 billion pesos for 2015. Service reevenue grew 15% to 113.7 billion. Excluding the introduction of Bayan revenues following Globe's takeover of the company, revenue grew 12% to 110.8 billion pesos.
Globe recently launched the GSMA-led Mobile Connect platform in the Philippines to help protect customers from online fraud and scams.
