Google has made available for download an early-look software development kit for the forthcoming Android OS 1.5.
According to Android engineer Xavier Ducrohet, version 1.5 is based on the cupcake branch from the Android Open Source Project and introduces application programming interfaces for features such as soft keyboards, homescreen widgets, live folders and speech recognition.
Still, Ducrohet stresses that developers should not release applications based on this early-look SDK because they may not work on real devices.
