A municipal swimming pool in Uitikon, Switzerland will heat its water from a novel source. No, not geothermal, solar or landfill methane. The heat will come from the computer servers at a new data center built by IBM for GIB-Services AG. According to an AP report, the town paid for part of the connecting equipment and will get to use the heat for free. IBM Data Service VP Steven Sam said the computers in the center will produce enough heat to heat up to 80 homes.
