NTT Communications subsidiary HKNet has secured MEF Carrier Ethernet 2.0 certification for its SecureNet Ethernet services.

The company offers Ethernet over Cyan's Z-Series optical transport platform, together with the SDN and NFV orchestration platform Blue Planet. Its network covers multiple locations in Asia including Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan, Cambodia, and India.

HKNet successfully put its services through the 634 test cases necessary for achieving MEF Carrier Ethernet 2.0 certification.“We are seeing tremendous demand for our SecureNet Ethernet services in Asia. The certification assures our customers that our network is of world-class standard,” HKNet executive vice president of global networks Patrick Ng said.

“The tests are challenging and we highly appreciate the professional support our network platform partner Cyan offered throughout the evaluation process.”

MEF president Nan Chen noted that Carrier Ethernet is growing increasingly popular among businesses worldwide.

“If you break down today’s business traffic, Ethernet represents approximately twice as much traffic as all other types combined on a global basis,” he said. “The collaboration between HKNet and Cyan has demonstrated a perfect example on how Carrier Ethernet evolves to meet customers’ needs.”

The MEF – Metro Ethernet Forum – is a global trade body representing the Ethernet industry.
