Huawei Technologies has signed an agreement with over 10 Hong Kong-based mobile application developers to jointly develop and promote applications for 3G through its InTouchLab partner program.

The agreement will enable Hong Kong 3G applications developers to promote and enhance their applications and solutions ranging from games, m-learning to enterprise solution- through Huaweis service platform in its InTouchLab, which was launched last year to accelerate the commercialization of 3G applications.

The agreement is signed between Huawei and Hong Kong Wireless Technology Industry Association (WTIA) and Hong Kong Wireless Development Centre (HKWDC), representative organizations of the citys mobile industry.

John Chiu, chairman of WTIA, said the partnership will allow service providers and content providers around the world to experience Hong Kong 3G application developers technology and applications, promoting technology interconnection and drive future business opportunities. WTIA, HKWDC and Huawei will also jointly work on specific cooperation plans in terms of resources sharing, application development, training and product promotion.

Che Haiping, president of application and software product line of Huawei, said the cooperation will enable Huawei to better understand the mature 3G application market, and prepare for the emerging 3G industry in China.

As of now over 300 partners including China-based service providers Tencent, Sina and Tom.com have joined program, using the inTouchLab as test bed to demonstrate their applications and solutions, Che added.
