Alibaba Group’s digital marketing and flash sales platform Juhuasuan has teamed up with IngDan, a subsidiary of Cogobuy Group, to accelerate the development of the IoT industry in Hong Kong.

The two companies said they will be providing local smart device startups with online and offline sales and marketing support. For a start, 20 innovative and intelligent technology products developed by entrepreneurs and designers from Hong Kong and Taiwan have been selected and were offered online last month on Juhuasuan.

On opening day alone, the event attracted over a million online visitors. Among the products on display were a smart digital scale, which achieved daily sales of approximately 8,000 units, while sales of an electric screwdriver totalled approximately 1,000 units.

Several automated drones and robots developed by local designers and startups were also showcased. Over 50 intelligent hardware products have been presented at both the Gala Event Global - Shenzhen and the Gala Event Global - Hong Kong.

Hong Kong's Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Gregory So Kam-leung said startups are one of the major drivers of employment and economic growth in Hong Kong.

“Hong Kong possesses excellent conditions for startups to grow, with both public and privately-owned organizations enthusiastically supporting their development,” he said.

Jeffrey Kang, CEO of Cogobuy Group and IngDan, said the decision to co-organize with Juhuasuan the Global Event Gala is IngDan’s latest step in helping intelligent hardware innovation entrepreneurs and startups introduce their products to new markets.

“Connecting these entrepreneurs with Juhuasuan is also of strategic significance to IngDan as it continues to work towards its goal of becoming the ‘Uber of the manufacturing industry’—a one-stop supply-chain center which offers online-to-offline (O2O) services covering everything from design and production to marketing and sales to help young entrepreneurs realise their dreams,” he said.

“Intelligent hardware represents a significant new consumption trend among younger buyers,” said Liu Bo, General Manager of Juhuasuan. “We are encouraging the development of the smart-device market by providing entrepreneurs in this field with access to Juhuasuan’s promotion and sales channel.”
