(Wireless News via NewsEdge) Networking equipment maker Juniper Networks, a announced the newest member of the T-series family, the T1600 core router.

The company said the new product is capable of delivering 1.6Tbps of throughput in a single half-rack chassis.

The service-aware T1600 core router will ease the transition to next-generation networks and enable service providers to accelerate the deployment of the experience-based services that subscribers expect, the firm said.

The T1600 core router is expected to be generally available for deployment in the fourth quarter of 2007, the company said.

Designed for multi-chassis deployments, the T1600 can scale to deliver up to 3.2 Tbps of throughput in a single standard 7-foot rack, more than twice the density of competitive platforms, the company said.

As the industry's most energy efficient router, the T1600 consumes 30% less power and requires 30% less cooling than competitive platforms, delivering operational excellence and helping to reduce total cost of ownership, it added.
