Korea Telecom has contracted Huawei for a project to build a high-capacity unified metro packet optical transport network (POTN).
KT has selected Huawei's 100G multi-service OTN platform for the project to build a bearer network for ultra-HD video, 5G and VIP leased line services.
The unified transport network will augment KT's LTE, LTE-A and home broadband services, including its Giga access services.
"Huawei MS-OTN solution will help Korea Telecom build a unified transport network with simplified architecture, maintaining Korea Telecom's leading market position, improving its operational efficiency, guaranteeing an optimal user experience, and helping it achieve business success,” commented Huawei president of network transmission products Jeffrey Gao.
The product supports the unified grooming of ODUk, packet and virtual container (VC) services, the unified receiving and processing of TDM and packet services and provides on-demand bandwidth resources.
