Information delivery platform provider KVH has upgraded its network backbone between Hong Kong, Tokyo and Singapore to 100G.

The company has acquired more international capacity on the Southeast Asia Japan Cable system (SJC) to allow it to meet demand for scalable data traffic in major Asian city economies.

KVH said it will launch its etherXEN portfolio of global Ethernet services and access to its Global DCNet interconnected network of data centers over the new capacity from April 15.

“As an ongoing effort to strengthen our network footprint, we are continuously upgrading our backbone, along with adding new routes and network points of presence,” KVH VP of product management Machifumi Kashiwagi said.

“The addition of this capacity further expands our footprint in the submarine market and helps cement our role as a strategic supplier to top international bandwidth consumers including MNCs and other service providers in Asia.”

Japan-based KVH provides IT and data center services in 28 countries across Asia, Europe and the US. The company also operates backbones between Hong Kong, Tokyo and Singapore on the Asia Submarine Cable Express (ASE) and other cable systems.
