MIPS Technologies introduced its latest GPS RF Tuner IP, an integrated low-noise RF front-end for GPS receivers in the L1 band.

The new GPS Tuner IP core is designed for any location application, such as navigation systems in cars, cell phones, and PDAs, according to MIPS, which specifically cited mobile devices that use an embedded GPS system.

The GPS Tuner IP core CI10084tg is also compatible with device maker Galileo. The core uses a fractional PLL, allowing designers to use the crystal frequencies available in the host application.

It also incorporates a wide range of options, so designers can optimize parameters like power modes and baseband filter settings for specific applications, according to MIPS.
