SingTel celebrated its 200,000-customer milestone by offering a range of treats to new and existing customers of digital pay-TV service mio TV. Microsoft helps SingTel bring entertainment to these customer’s homes through Microsoft Mediaroom, the software platform used by mio TV.

“We are thrilled that 200,000 Singaporeans have chosen mio TV for their home entertainment,” said VP Tim Carmichael. “Since its launch in 2007, mio TV has created waves in the pay TV market in Singapore, which was dominated by a single player for over a decade. We have brought many innovations to the market and our new offerings reinforce our commitment to leading and shaping the industry.”

mio TV ushered the premiere of James Cameron’s blockbuster movie Avatar on Singapore TV with an offer that lasted April to May for all on-demand movies at S$2.99 (about $2.24) per movie. These include the latest Hollywood blockbusters such as Inglourious Basterds, 2012, Jennifer’s Body, Did You Hear About the Morgans? and Surrogates.

During the promo period, mio TV also conducted a daily lucky draw for customers with prizes including a Samsung 40” 3D LED TV, Samsung 3D Blu Ray player, two pairs of Samsung 3D glasses and a Monsters vs Aliens 3D Blu Ray DVD – a pack with a total value of over S$5,000.

“We are delighted to be the first in Singapore to bring Avatar into our customers’ living rooms,” Carmichael said. “The lucky winners of the Samsung 3D TVs are now enjoying our movies in spectacular 3D right from the comfort of their sofas.”
