Nokia and Bosch Connected Devices and Solutions have formed a strategic partnership to deploy industrial IoT solutions from sensors through to applications.

Under the partnership, Nokia will provide its IoT Cloud platform as well as IoT connectivity and services, while Bosch Connected Devices and Solutions will provide smart connected sensor devices.

Initial work will focus on asset tracking, environmental control and industrial automation, Nokia said in a company statement.

Together, the pair will work on solutions that allow enterprises and verticals to track and collect critical data from their assets, enabling predictive maintenance and environmental monitoring that can make operations more efficient.

Nokia and Bosch are currently doing several customer trials in Europe, the Middle East and Africa with commercially available solutions expected in early 2018.

The collaboration will enable easier and more rapid development of solutions designed for large logistics providers, operators and industrial players, Nokia said.

In addition, Nokia is expanding its IoT services offering to help mobile operators enter new IoT market segments or expand their footprint geographically.

Nokia has launched a consulting offering for operators to identify the best vertical market opportunities in any given region, and provides the related IoT applications and go-to-market model to help them scale fast. It determines opportunities in nine IoT market segments: connected car, healthcare, logistics and transport, smart cities, utilities, agriculture, retail, smart homes and buildings, as well as connected industry.

Once a service is up and running, the Nokia WING managed service model can provide provisioning, device management, operations, security, customer care and billing for all connected applications.

“WING market entry services' hands-on approach of designing the right proposition and go-to-market strategy ensures operators can capture new revenue streams in IoT", Nokia said in a statement.

Besides market entry services under the WING solution, the vendor has also introduced Nokia TestHub for solution validation and testing services to accelerate commercial launches.
