Nokia has rolled out a range of affordable mobile devices and internet-based services specifically for people in emerging markets, with estimated retail prices ranging from 25 to 90 euros (between $31 and $115). Several models are expected to begin shipping before yearend while a suite of internet services will be available beginning in 2009.

The first services Nokia will offer in emerging markets will focus on email, agriculture and education. Based on consumer feedback, these present the strongest demand in such markets.

One service is Mail on Ovi, which is enabled on Nokia Series 40 devices and offers the possibility to create an email account directly on the mobile phone without having to use a personal computer. Another is Nokia Life Tools, a range of services designed especially for rural and small town communities, which helps farmers and students overcome information constraints.

To support the range of new mobile services for emerging markets, Nokia also expanded its portfolio of affordable mobile phones to include Nokia 7100 Supernova, Nokia 5130 XpressMusic, Nokia 2323 classic, Nokia 2330 classic, Nokia 1202 and Nokia 1661.
