Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) and Juniper Networks have received regulatory approval to join forces to develop products for the carrier Ethernet market.

The new joint venture, a 60:40 partnership between IP networking firm Juniper and the Finnish-German telco supplier, will be incorporated in Amsterdam as Carrier Ethernet Solutions (CES).

The JV now expects to launch its first products by Q1 2010, NSN said.

Juniper vice-president John Stewart has been appointed CEO and NSN senior finance manager Ton van den Boom CFO.

“The Juniper-Nokia Siemens Networks joint venture will offer the industry’s best unified Carrier Ethernet solution from metro access to aggregation,” Stewart said.

CES will integrate Juniper's MX series Ethernet routers and NSN's A-series switches into end-to-end products, which will be sold by both companies.
