Japan's NTT Communications will buy two United States-based cloud computing firms in deals worth $875 million combined.

NTT Corp's unlisted long-distance and overseas calling unit will buy Virtela Technology Services, a provider of communications services to corporations, and acquire an 80% stake in RagingWire Data Centers.

Colorado-based Virtela, which currently services clients in over 190 countries via local partnerships, will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTT Communications.

The deal is expected to help the Japanese company offer data services worldwide without the need to license cables and lines in various markets.

The RagingWire acquisition is expected to aid NTT Communications in expanding its data center operations in the United States. The company currently has data centers in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Britain.
