NTT Com opens new IoT office

NTT Communications has established a new IoT office to allow enterprises to take advantage of the company's secure global IoT environment.

The office will supply application platforms that store, visualize and analyze data collected from IoT devices.

The company said it will provide a global network directly connected with its cloud and data centers for the IoT solutions, and users will be able to choose where to store their data among around 130 data centers worldwide.

NTT Com has been involved in IoT projects including installing a smart streetlight network at an industrial complex in Indonesia and implementing a cloud service to monitor elderly people living alone based on their daily use of electric appliances for a Japanese hospital.

In other IoT news, Nokia Networks has launched an Open Innovation Challenge based on the Internet of Things.

The competition, now in its third year, is designed to give innovators an opportunity to collaborate with Nokia on potential disruptive innovations.

This year's focus on the IoT will mean participants will seek to advance innovations which my help shape the future of the IoT industry.

Nokia said it envisions participants suggesting use cases in verticals including health, security, automotive, public safety, industrial internet and smart cities.
