Australia's Optus has entered a partnership with Australian prepaid international SIM provider Travelsim to launch a mobile service designed specifically for international travelers and students in the nation.

The gotravelsim service will provide bundled data, unlimited standard Australian calls and text as well as bundled international voice minutes, and is available in both month-to-month and 12 month plans.

The month to month plans start at A$30 ($22.20) per month for 6GB of data, up to $50 per month for 15GB of data, while the 12 month plans up these allocations to 10G and 23GB respectively.

For added convenience, international travelers will be able to purchase gotravelsim cards while overseas, and have it delivered to their accommodation on arrival. They will also be able to obtain their local Australian number before they arrive so they can share it with friends and family.

“The youth travel market in Australia presents a substantial market opportunity for both Optus and TravelSIM,” Optus managing director of wholesale and satellite Stuart Bird said in a statement.

“With 2.2 million young travelers visiting our shores each year, gotravelsim offers an affordable and flexible mobile plan delivered over Optus’ award-winning mobile network.”

Optus is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore's Singtel.
