Hong Kong-based hosted Internet services provider Outblaze yesterday announced the release of OutblazeVideo, a white label Web-based multimedia editing and sharing application for telcos and portals. OutblazeVideo is delivered as a service, enabling operators to deploy and brand a suite of sophisticated Web 2.0 multimedia and sharing tools for their customers, said Outblaze in a statement.

Outblaze CEO and founder Yat Siu told the SHOW DAILY the service's first deployment is at the official online home of Hello Kitty, www.sanriotown.com. 'Sanrio was familiar with us as we host their email, and wanted our ability to deliver Web 2.0-type services,' said Yat. 'The expertise isn't in the application, it's in our expertise in running these [value-added] services.' Yat confirmed that his firm will be supplying OutblazeVideo to mail.com and is working on some Korean telco deals.

Outblaze describes its new service as a turnkey, user-centric video manipulation engine built for Web sites with a customizable interface, search capability, sharing tools and multilevel metadata indexing designed to tap the growing popularity of user-generated content and social networking and increase user acquisition and retention.

OutblazeVideo resides on a central server and is accessed via a Web browser. Users can upload various digital video, sound, and image media, which the OutblazeVideo engine instantaneously renders to Flash format for publication, storage, and sharing on the client's Web site.

The editing tools allow manipulation of layered media, animated slide elements, photo and text effects, transitions, and soundtracks.

OutblazeVideo enables two primary forms of revenue generation: advertising (including video as well as standard web display ads) and premium subscriptions (such as increased file size limit and greater range of editing features).
