Around 1,800 of the UK's traditional red phone booths have found new roles as a result of a British Telecom community scheme, with one even becoming a bar for a night.
The phone booths have been adopted by town and village communities as part of a program by the telco to preserve the iconic boxes amid declining usage of public payphones. Among the more notable uses of the booths are the installation of defibrillators, conversion into art galleries and libraries, and use as exhibition or information centers.
BT revealed the details while announcing its first public auction of the kiosks in over 25 years.
