Qantas boarding passes go digital

Passengers of Qantas will be able to board using an iPhone 3G or other handheld device from early next year and also check in to their flights over the internet, even for international flights. Qantas said mobile boarding passes would be sent to the device as a 2D barcode a day before the flight, but the option is only offered to those who selected their seats online before departure.

MCN's allwords debuts outside Japan

Following success in Japan, Mobile Content Networks has launched globally its mobile content merchandising program allwords, with initial distribution including Thailand's AIS, DTAC, and TrueMove; Avea of Turkey, Scandinavia's Tele2; and myGamma.com, Singapore-based BuzzCity's fast growing mobile social network. allwords -- which offers "direct, cost-effective, and profitable" ways to promote digital content discovery and transactions - will also be launched in the US as part of a commercial trial it is conducting with a leading mobile operator.

RealNetworks has launched the next wave of its emoticonSMS service to China Unicom's more than 10 million subscribers in the Sichuan and Chongqing regions. The next-generation emoticonSMS -- branded xPressiveMMS by China Unicom -- incorporates graphics and photos into text messages, converting an SMS message into an MMS message automatically.

ROK plays free on MSN Mobile Video

ROK Entertainment said its made-for-mobile comedy channel, Fun Little Movies (FLM), is available to viewers on mobile phones and PCs as a new MSN Mobile video channel. FLM can be seen free of charge as it is being entirely supported through advertising, which will soon be incorporated into the mobile stream service.
