India's Reliance Jio Infocomm has confirmed plans to offer voice as well as LTE data services in its domestic market.

Group CFO Alok Agarwal told reporters that the company definitely plans to offer voice services, but would not be pressed for further information including launch plans or financial details, Press Trust of Indiareported.

Reliance Jio recently applied to take place in upcoming auctions for 2G and 3G spectrum, and has now officially confirmed plans to offer voice alongside its planned 4G data services.

The company's participation in the auction is expected to stimulate intense bidding among the eight applicants.

Fellow Indian operator Tata Communications has separately announced the launch of a global SIP trunking service for enterprise customers.

Global SIP Connect is designed to replace legacy trunking services with SIP-based PSTN access, including compatibility with Microsoft's Lync UC platform.

Tata Communications said domestic SIP trunking services are currently available in the US, UK and several European markets, and the offering will be expanded to Asia soon.
