SingTel, HP and two healthcare companies have joined forces for an m-health clinical trial in Singapore.

The eight week trial will concentrate on the detection of signs of cardiovascular conditions, the companies have announced. It will involve 100 patients.

The participants will wear a watch-like biomonitoring device provided by a Singapore-based medical device provider, with the information transferred wirelessly through SingTel's 3G/GRPS network and stored in a database hosted on its cloud infrastructure.

The data will be integrated and accessed using a mobile application and service portal provided by HP.

SingTel's business division develops products including clinic management systems specifically for the healthcare industry. The company in April won an electronic medical record contract from Singapore's Ministry of Health.

HP last year agreed to donate $1 million to the mHealth Alliance, and to provide financial, technical and project support for the group's initiatives.

Singapore will be the home of the 2011 Mobile Health Asia summit in August.
