More than 90 Singapore students developed robotic cars during a two-day program organized by IDA Labs. The cars were presented to visiting foreign leaders at the Ministerial Forum welcome dinner, which held as part of the Infocomm Media Business Exchange (imbX).

The students were instructed on basic programming and assembly using an electronics prototyping platform and given the freedom to tinker with the technology and build in components such as ultrasonic and light sensors.

Some students who were up for a challenge could also assemble additional components, such as indoor air quality sensors, real-time clocks and musical buzzers.
Steve Leonard, executive deputy chairman of Singapore’s IDA, said the Robot Car workshop gave kids hands-on experience working with coding and simple robotics and the opportunity to have fun customizing the cars using their imagination.
