Sudan's Sudatel has arranged to trial Nokia fixed and mobile broadband equipment with the ultimate aim of improving the broadband experience in the market.

Under the agreement, Sudatel will trial Nokia's 4.5G Pro, 4.9G and 5G mobile technologies and its FTTH product portfolio at Nokia Laboratories in Finland and Belgium.

The collaboration will have an initial focus on enhancing the quality of mobile data services in Sudan's capital city Khartoum, and will include an evaluation of Nokia's AirScale radio access platform.

“Sudatel is pleased to sign this strategic technology partnership with Nokia for the development of leading ultra-broadband services in Sudan and contribute to enhancing the Broadband Development Index,” Sudatel president and CEO Tarig Zain El Abdein said.

“Bringing Nokia's technology expertise and innovations to Sudan is very strategic for us in the execution of our vision of becoming the most admired ICT provider in Africa."
