Indian-based Tata Communications will today announce $430 million in investments across Asia-Pacific. FT.com reported.

It will build a new data center in Singapore and complete the Intra Asia cable that runs from Japan to southeast Asia.

CEO Narasimhan Srinath said despite the economic slump the firm was committed to its plan to invest $1.5 billion over the next three years in emerging markets.

Tata recently bought a majority stake in South African telco Neotel. "We want to increase our presence in Africa, where there is strong growth potential, but future investments depend on demand and financing," said Srinath.

COO Vinod Kumar will announce details at a press briefing in Singapore this afternoon.
