Alcatel-Lucent CEO Michel Combe to depart on Sep 1

Alcatel-Lucent said CEO Michel Combe will step down from his role on September 1, as the company moves toward completing its deal with Nokia.

The company announced Combe’s departure date last week and further management revamp for the transition period as it prepares for the combination with Nokia.

Effective September 1, and for the duration of the transition period, Philippe Camus, currently chairman of the company’s board, will become chairman and interim CEO.

COO Philippe Guillemot will be in charge of leading the operational management of the group. Guillemot will also co-lead the integration team with Basil Alwan, president of the IP Routing & Transport business line.

Jean Raby, chief finance and legal officer, will be responsible for completing the proposed transaction with Nokia.

Jean-Cyril Spinetta has been appointed lead director of the board.

The team will be responsible for completing Alcatel-Lucent’s 2015 targets under the Shift Plan and closing the proposed transaction with Nokia and preparing for the companies’ integration.

Alcatel-Lucent announced the merger with Nokia on April 15 and the combined company is going to be led by Nokia CEO Rajeev Suri.

Ciena names president and GM for Korean operations

Ciena has appointed Henry Kim as president and general manager to oversee sales strategy and operations in South Korea.

Kim is an industry veteran with extensive experience in sales management for service provider accounts, cloud computing business development and transformational project management.

He has held several executive positions in sales and business development with leading international IT and networking companies. He worked for Digital Equipment Co. in Massachusetts and NEC Corporation in Silicon Valley, as an engineer in the research and development team for 16 years.
