Alibaba Cloud appoints Zhou Jingren to lead Big Data and AI research at Alibaba iDST

Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Alibaba Group, has appointed Dr Zhou Jingren as chief scientist to lead big data and artificial intelligence research at Alibaba Cloud iDST (Institute of Data Science Technology), developing cloud-scale distributed computation platforms, data analytic products and various business solutions.

At Alibaba Cloud iDST, Zhou manages a team of top-tier engineers based in China and USA, which is engaged in the development of advanced technologies in speech, natural language, image and video processing and large-scale machine learning.

Prior to joining Alibaba, Zhou was the Partner Engineering Manager at Microsoft, where he managed a team developing the big data computation platform supporting Microsoft’s Windows and Office applications and web search engine Bing. This platform laid the foundation for Microsoft’s entire back-end data services, utilizing over more than 10,000 computing clusters to provide diversified computing capability, real-time massive data streaming and processing.

Brocade appoints head for ANZ

Brocade has appointed Jason Baden as senior director for Australia and New Zealand (ANZ), where he will be responsible for driving the company’s business in the region.

Based in Sydney, Baden will report directly to Adam Judd, Brocade vice president for Asia Pacific Japan. Baden will assume his new role from July 25.

Baden joins Brocade from Juniper Networks, where he spent the last eight years in a variety of strategic business and account management roles. Prior to Juniper Networks, he held various business development and strategic account roles at AXS-One, Airwide Solutions, and Optus.

CSG Systems International names Christine Mellon chief human resources officer

Christine Mellon has joined CSG Systems International as chief human resources officer.

Mellon, who assumed the role on July 1, reports to CSG International’s president and CEO, Bret Griess.

Mellon has more than 25 years of human resources expertise developed from leadership roles in technology, financial services and pharmaceutical organizations.

Before joining CSG Systems International, Mellon was vice president of human capital management transformation at Oracle and prior to that she led global human resources for Aepona and Echostar.
