A Norwegian national, Sørby joined Telenor in 1993 and has held a number of senior positions within the group. He was appointed as a director of Digi in March 2013.

Sørby has, in his capacity as executive vice president, served as head of Norwegian market from 2003 to 2005, head of Nordic operations from 2005 to 2009, EVP and head of corporate development from 2009 to 2011, and head of strategy and regulatory affairs from 2011 to 2013. He was CEO of Uninor, the Indian mobile unit of Telenor, in 2014.

Alibaba Group appoints independent director to the board

Alibaba Group has named Wan Ling Martello an independent director on the company’s board.

Martello has 30 years of global business and finance experience working in the consumer packaged goods industry, retail sector, and e-commerce across a diverse set of companies.

Freewave president Steve Wulchin steps down

FreeWave Technologies, which provides M2M and IoT wireless networking solutions, said its co-founder Steve Wulchin is leaving his role as president of the company.

Wulchin remains the company's single largest shareholder and will continue to be actively involved as a board member in the development of FreeWave’s new product platforms and in its expansion into international marketplaces, the company said in a statement.

“I have full confidence in the new executive team Kim Niederman (FreeWave’s new CEO) has assembled, and the strategic direction they have laid out for FreeWave,” said Wulchin.
