Ericsson names regional head for India and North East Asia

Ericsson has appointed Paolo Colella as head of region India and Chris Houghton head of region North East Asia.

Previously Colella has been responsible for Ericsson's Consulting & Systems Integration business globally for around six years. He joined Ericsson in 2001 as vice president of global services at Ericsson Italy and has since held different positions within sales and marketing, services and key account management.

Colella will assume his new role on September 1 and also take a seat on Ericsson's global leadership team.

Colella succeeds Houghton, who will take on a new role to head Ericsson’s operations in North East Asia covering the markets of Hong Kong, Macau, Mainland China, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.

Houghton, who has worked for Ericsson for 27 years, will assume his new role from August 1. Prior to being appointed head of region India in June 2013, Houghton was head of customer unit UK and Ireland and managing director of Ericsson UK.

Houghton replaces Jan Signell, who has decided to leave Ericsson to pursue opportunities outside the company.

Signell will remain available to Ericsson, working on special assignments out of the Hong Kong office reporting to Mats H Olsson, until January 31, 2016, when he will formally leave the company.

Both Colella and Hou will report to senior vice president of Asia-Pacific Mats H Olsson.
