Inmarsat announces enterprise and M2M heads

Inmarsat has appointed Tim Johnson as head of enterprise market strategy group and David Wigglesworth as leader of its M2M division.

Prior to joining Inmarsat, Johnson was executive director of Iridium Communications’ land-mobile business between 2013 and 2015. Before that, he held a variety of senior sales and marketing positions at Iridium.

Wigglesworth also joins Inmarsat from Iridium, where he held a variety of senior sales and marketing positions for their M2M data services team.

RSA appoints Zulfikar Ramzan as CTO

Dr. Zulfikar Ramzan has joined RSA, the security division of EMC, as chief technology officer.

Ramzan will be responsible for leading the development of the company’s technology strategy and will focus on bringing to market the innovations that help protect RSA customers from the growing number of advanced threats.

Prior to joining RSA, Ramzan served as CTO of Elastica, where he leveraged machine learning technologies and natural language processing to enable customers to more securely access and use cloud services.

Before Elastica, Ramzan respectively served as chief scientist of both Sourcefire, acquired by Cisco in October 2013, and malware analytics company Immunet, acquired by Sourcefire in 2010.

Newtec names Kevin McCarthy VP of marketing

Newtec has appointed Kevin McCarthy as vice president of market development.

The appointment is part of the company’s strategic initiative to strengthen its capabilities in various mobility verticals, including maritime, oil & gas, and aviation, Newtec said in a statement.

Prior to joining Newtec, McCarthy spent 15 years at MTN Satellite Communications, where he held various roles, including senior VP of network engineering and, most recently, chief operations officer. McCarthy began his career at Norwegian Cruise Line as a network engineer.

McCarthy will be based in Florida, US, and report to Thomas Van Den Driessche.
