Vic McClelland appointed to lead Optus Networks

SingTel-owned Optus has appointed Vic McClelland as managing director of Optus Networks.

McClelland will be in charge of strategic investment in mobile infrastructure and the day-to-day running of fixed, mobile and satellite networks. He will assume his new role on November 4 and report to CEO, Consumer Australia, Optus, Kevin Russell.

Prior to joining Optus, McClelland was most recently VP of technology strategy for internet services with Ericsson in Silicon Valley, US.

His previous roles include head of technology strategy and planning for Vodafone Hutchison Australia and CTO for Hutchison Telecommunications Australia.

Thomas Van den Driessche appointed Newtec’s new CMO

Newtec has promoted Thomas Van den Driessche to the position of chief commercial officer to lead the satellite company’s global sales team. He will also remain responsible for Newtec’s marketing strategy and will work closely with the regional sales VP’s for EMEIA, Americas, and Asia.

Van den Driessche joined Newtec in 2007 as a regional sales director for Europe and has held several positions in the company since then, including VP of market strategy.
