Telstra names Upendra Kohli MD for India operations

Telstra has appointed Upendra Kohli to the newly created role of country managing director for India.

Based in Bangalore, Kohli will develop and execute Telstra's overall strategy for the Indian sub-continent and is responsible for customer relationships throughout India.

He will also drive relations with business process outsourcers and IT service providers globally and work across the company to help coordinate the various strategic relationships Telstra has in India.

Kohli has more than two decades of experience in IT and telecoms across Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa (MEA). He spent the past 13 years with Infosys, where he most recently led the South-East Asia and MEA regions.

Prior to this, Upendra led a number of Infosys' industry verticals, including telecom, in the APAC and MEA regions, and played a leading role in establishing Infosys' first Australian and MEA businesses.

Thuraya appoints new managers to maritime team

Thuraya Telecommunications has strengthened its maritime commercial team with two new appointments as the UAE-based mobile satellite operator grows its presence in the shipping and fishery sectors.

Phoebe Wang is appointed as sales manager of maritime, based in Singapore. Wang will join the distribution team to support sales of Thuraya’s maritime products and services in Asia.

Leticia Diaz Del Rio is named market development manager of maritime. Based in Dubai, she will be responsible for directly generating customer demand, identifying and cultivating new opportunities to sell Thuraya’s maritime products and services through direct engagement with end-users and service partners around the globe.
