Juan Carlos López Vives, president of Telefonica Global Solutions, explains how the company’s new Singapore office supports its mission to be a gateway for its global customers between the West and East

TelecomAsia.net: What is the main factor driving this expansion at this time?

Juan Carlos López Vives: We recognize the increasing importance of the APAC region globally, both in terms of business leadership and GDP world growth. Aligned with this are the expansion strategies being executed by our MNC and corporate customers, who are investing in Asian markets, seeking to offset slower growth in established ones.

Our intention is to continue to build our global reach with a purpose, enabling our customers to leverage our global purchasing power and managed services, acting as a gateway and key partner for them for ITC services between the West (Americas & Europe) and the East (APAC).

What would you say is the sweet spot for Telefonica Global Solutions’ offering?

Our focus on differentiating through customer experience is the key value that sets us apart from the competition. Recognizing and understanding customer insights enables us to build managed services that meet our customers’ needs today while providing future proof relevance. When combined with our commercial flexibility, guaranteed service levels and deep local coverage and global service reach, means our customers always remain connected to the things that matter most, their core business.

Which product areas do you expect to attract the greatest demand in the region?

The digital revolution means everything is mobile, always connected, socially engaged and crowd-collaborated. We intend to leverage our leadership heritage in global managed mobility and data services combined with the capabilities of well-positioned and strategic partners to achieve a step change in service delivery.

Our fresh thinking with experience customers can count on is already providing a point of differentiation. In addition, we have established global leadership in both M2M and unified communications and collaboration. We anticipate exploiting these market positions and deep insight to deliver a world-leading customer experience to our MNC clients both with a commercial or operational presence across APAC. We aim to be their digital partner of choice.
