Australia's largest operator Telstra has revamped its organizational structure and leadership team as part of the major Telstra 2022 restructuring strategy the company had announced in June.

Telstra CEO Andy Penn announced that the company's current group executive for enterprise Brendon Riley will become CEO of newly-established infrastructure division Telstra InfraCo.

Meanwhile Telstra plans to establish a new product and technology division focused on developing an integrated product and technology roadmap for the entire company. The leader of this division has been appointed and will be named shortly.

Penn also announced that four senior executives will be leaving the company as part of the 8,000 job cuts planned under the restructuring strategy – CFO Warwick Bray, Group Executive for Technology, Innovation and Strategy Stephen Elop, Group Executive of Telstra Wholesale Will Irving, and CMO and Group Executive for Media Joe Pollard.

Telstra has announced the appointment of former Reliance Jio EVP of networks Nikos Katinakis to take over leadership of the Enterprise Team and Networks and IT divisions respectively. The former CEO of Australian broadcaster SBS, Michael Ebeid, has been appointed to run Telstra's enterprise division.

The company has also reshuffled several top level executives. David Burns will take over as leader of Telstra Global Business Services, Robyn Denholm will move to the role of CFO and head of strategy and Alex Badenoch will lead its new Transformation Delivery Office to oversee delivery of the transformation strategy.

Penn said the changes are designed to remove duplication, hierarchy and silos across the company.

“[This] will help us improve the service that we provide to our customers, the efficiency of the business and our competitiveness, as well as increase our productivity and reduce costs,” he said.
