Japanese PC maker Panasonic will use Qualcomm's Gobi mobile Internet solution in its "Toughbook" line of laptops.
Gobi takes advantage of high-speed mobile Internet services across countries, according to Panasonic.
The pre-installed Carrier Selection Application software also enables these laptops to operate on both CDMA2000 and WCDMA/UMTS wireless networks.
The company added two Toughbook models - the Toughbook 19 tablet and Toughbook 30 notebooks - have been certified to use Verizon Wireless' CDMA2000 EV-DO network.
Panasonic is also applying for certification from rival carrier Sprint.
These Gobi-equipped laptops will be available starting October. Panasonic plans to introduce Gobi technology into all of its mobile computing products early next year.
