ZTE has recently announced two major deals to provide equipment to two Chinese mobile operators.

The vendor has won a tender to provide just over 30% of China Mobile's annual volumes of high-performance routers.

As part of the deal, ZTE will provide a multi-service gateway for deployment in China mobile's LTE and IP MAN networks, internet data centers and enterprise services.

China Mobile's annual router tender drew 13 bids from vendors including ZTE, Cisco and Juniper Networks. ZTE's share is the second largest among the winning bidders.

ZTE separately revealed it has helped China Telecom roll out the nation's first evolved multiple broadcast multiple service (eMBMS) system over a hybrid LTE network.

The eMBMS service has been deployed in the city of Wuxi, allowing the delivery of mobile video and voice services simultaneously. It uses ZTE's IP RAN technology tweaked to minimize latency.

As more and more LTE networks are launched worldwide, operators are exploring exploiting the technology to deliver value-added video services to customers, ZTE said. Multicasting is the best way to provide efficient video transmission while minimizing resource wastage, the vendor added.
