WBO featherweight champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist Robeisy Ramirez revealed on his social media accounts how the Cuban government is trying to intimidate him.

Ramirez will make his first title defense against Japan's Satoshi Shimizu on July 25 in Tokyo, Japan.

It turns out, the Cuban Embassy in Japan contacted the local network broadcasting the event to expressly prohibit them from playing the Cuban National Anthem prior to my presentation. In addition to this, they demanded that I not use the Cuban flag in my uniform or anywhere else. Needless to say, I strongly denounce this vile attempt at intimidation.

Ramirez, 29, last fought in April against Isaac Dogboe. He won that fight by unanimous decision from the judges. In October 2022, he stepped into the ring against José Matias Romero. This fight ended in favor of Robeisy by technical knockout in the ninth round. He has 12 wins (seven by knockout) and one loss on his record.
