“How has the team changed since I left? The young players to whom I gave a chance have grown up now. The team has more experience and quality. The style has changed; we used to play defensively, on fast counterattacks, playing intelligent football.
Unfortunately, four years ago, we couldn't beat North Macedonia, and I am happy that history did not repeat itself. Psychologically, it was a very difficult match. I am happy along with the fans of the Georgian national team," Weiss said to Telecomasia.net.
On March 26, Georgia defeated Greece (0:0, 4:2 on penalties) and advanced to the final stage of the 2024 European Championship, which will be held in Germany.
Georgia has never before qualified for the final stage of continental championships. The team will play in the same group as Portugal, Turkey, and the Czech Republic.
