Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou has responded to criticism from Conor McGregor, who previously said the Cameroonian made a mistake in his negotiations with the UFC and made the wrong move by leaving the league.

It wasn’t hard [to ignore criticism] because I knew what I was working on. I knew that I had the best deal. I knew they were just talking out of ignorance. They didn’t know what was going on and was just [reacting to] general speculation. They don’t have all the ups and downs of the situation. They are not in your shoes.

Ngannou last fought against Ciryl Gane in January 2022 at UFC 270. In that encounter, Francis won by unanimous decision of the judges.

Ngannou entered the Octagon in March 2021 against Stipe Miocic at UFC 260. That fight, which was stopped in the second round, ended in Francis' favor by knockout. He has 17 wins and three losses in mixed martial arts under his belt.
