Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev commented on the information that he showed the stands a middle finger while leaving the court after his match with Grigor Dimitrov.

L'Equipe quotes Medvedev as saying:

No, I didn't [show my middle finger]. I just checked my nails. No, really, it's nothing more than that. Why would I do that to this beautiful crowd in Paris-Bercy? In general, I have a lot of French friends, and they don't seem to like this tournament very much. Maybe there is a reason. Me, generally, yeah, I played much better here without the crowd, so that's all I can say.

On November 1, the 27-year-old Russian was eliminated in the second round after losing in three sets to the world No. 17 Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria - 3:6, 7:6 (7:4), 6:7 (2:7). Medvedev served six times, made eight double faults and realized three of twelve break points. The 32-year-old Bulgarian tennis player had eight aces, two service errors and realized four of eight break points.

It should be noted that during the match the spectators in the stands booed at Medvedev, and Medvedev went up to the chair umpire saying that he would refuse to play until the booing stopped. The Russian received a warning for stalling, but won the second set.
