New York Mets vs Atlanta Braves Prediction: Braves will be solid once more

On Monday, the MLB doubleheader between the Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets will take place at Citi Field. The weekend series consists of three games, two of which will be played here. The Braves won the first game, but the second was rained out on Sunday.

The Mets lost the opening game against the Braves on Friday after being outhit 5-3 and not having many opportunities to come back. David Peterson was the only New York pitcher to take the mound that day. He went 5.0 innings, allowed four runs (four of which were earned), allowed five hits, walked one, and struck out six batters. The Mets are 11-4 in their previous 15 games played on Monday and 39-16 in their last 55 games played in game three of a series. After suffering a loss, New York has a record of 50-22 in their last 72 games.

Matt Olson's three-RBI home run was the key to the Braves' success in the Friday game of this series, which was cut short by rain and ended with a 4-0 victory for the Braves. The episodes scheduled for Saturday and Sunday were both delayed because of the stormy weather. The Braves have won all four of their games played on Monday and are 9-1 in their past ten games played away from home. After a day off, Atlanta's record over the previous 21 is 16-5.

Morton has gone 2-1 over his last three games, allowing just four earned runs on 14 hits and seven walks over 19.0 innings of work. In all three of those appearances, he pitched for at least six innings. The Braves' prospects are bright if Morton can turn in another strong outing.
