Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Chicago Cubs: Cubs Playing at Home

The upcoming fixture of the MLB weekend game would be featuring Pittsburgh Pirates versus Chicago Cubs. The game would be played at Wrigley Field, in the heart of Chicago. Their last outing on Friday was a walk in the park for Chicago Cubs. The Chicago Cubs beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 21-0 on Saturday, ending a four-game losing streak. Alfonso Rivas had three hits and five RBIs. Rivas, who was promoted from Triple-A Iowa on Friday, hit a three-run blast to complete Chicago's eight-run second inning. In the fourth and fifth innings, he added RBI singles. Rivas has gone 5 for 11 in his two seasons with the Cubs.

Four of the Pirates' last six games have been losses. It was the Pirates' worst defeat ever, and the 21 runs were the most they'd given up since May 25, 1954, against the New York Giants. In two innings, Zach Thompson (0-2) was hit for nine runs, four of which were earned. Thompson gave up four straight singles in the second inning with one out before the shortstop. Kevin Newman made two mistakes in a row. Pirates are capable of planting a decent comeback and taking revenge for the 21-0 loss from Chicago Cubs.

The final match of the four-game series between these two sides would be an interesting event, as the series is at 2-1. With that unexpected win, Cubs have broken their losing streak in the competition. In the ongoing season, Chicago Cubs lost to Tampa Bay twice in three days. The first two games against the Pirates were also a disaster as they lost (3-4) and (2-4). Hence the upcoming home game would be a morale booster for the entire unit.
