St Louis lost the first game of their home-and-home series to Philadelphia (0:2). Will one of the strongest teams in the National League be able to get revenge in game two?

The team played the first game of their home-and-home series against Philadelphia after a rough road trip in which they dropped two of three games to the same Phillies (3:5, 7:6, 0:4) and then lost three of four games to Atlanta (3:6, 1:7, 0:3, 3:2). As a result of all these failures, St. Louis gave up the lead in the National League Central Division to Milwaukee and is now 3.5 wins behind the Brewers. The Cardinals are 45-31, and the Brewers are 48-37.

St. Louis' starting pitcher for Game 2 of the series with Philadelphia will be Dakota Hudson, 6-5 and a 4.29 ERA in 16 games.

While St Louis has the only top contender in the NL Central in Milwaukee, Philadelphia has to contend with two conference leaders, the New York Mets and Atlanta, in their NL East contest. The team, now led by Rob Thomson, has fallen behind. The Phillies are 45-39, the Braves are 50-35, and the Mets are 52-32.

Kyle Gibson will pitch for Philadelphia in the second game of the series in St. Louis, 4-3 and a 4.91 ERA in 16 starts.

The first game of the series was very low-scoring. The second game is almost sure to be much more productive. After all, the Phillies and Cards, still without starting catcher Yadier Molina, are not the top defenses in this MLB season.

In addition, a bet on a Cardinals win is also worth considering. Oliver Marmol's team has lost a lot lately and is unlikely to give up the second game in a row to the still very unstable Philadelphia.
