John Scott - “Dogs of War”

John won his first BDO ranking title in 2019 when he won the Estonia Open in Tallinn. He followed it up the next day with a victory in the Estonia Masters. Scott reached a career-high of number 2 in the World Darts Federation rankings in June 2019 and extended his fine form by qualifying for the 2019 BDO World Trophy, defeating Ted Hankey in the qualifications before falling 3-5 to Wayne Warren in the main event last 32.

Despite a poor start following the forced hiatus caused by the Coronavirus epidemic, John lost out on qualification for the 2022 WDF World Darts Championship by one position in the standings. In January 2022, he won his third WDF ranking championship, the Reykjavik International Games in Iceland, propelling him back to 12th place in the world rankings. Due to the Russo-Ukrainian War, the WDF suspended Russian players from the World Championship at the suggestion of the IOC. Scott was able to compete in the World Championship for the first time due to this.

.

Johnny Haines – “The Punk”

At the European Darts Open, Haines defeated Christian Soethe 6–4 and Benito van de Pas 6–3 but fell to Michael van Gerwen 6–1 in the third round. The £2,000 he earned was his largest check of the year.

Haines had a dismal 2016 season, reaching the last 64 of six events and losing at this level each time. Gary Stone defeated him 6–5 in the opening round of the UK Open.

Haines will join the WDF in October 2021. Haines qualified for the 2022 WDF World Championships with a qualification held at Lakeside in December 2021, defeating Scott Walters 6-5 to secure his spot.
