ATK Mohun Bagan vs Chennaiyin FC Prediction: The away side look good with their signings

Mohun Bagan will host Chennaiyan in the first game week of the ISL at Salt Lake Stadium. Will the two-time champions get off to a flying start or will Mohun Bagan assert their dominance on the field?

One of the oldest clubs in India Mohun Bagan did not start the 2022-23 season on a positive note. They were knocked out of the Durand Cup in the group stages and received a 3-1 defeat against Kuala Lumpur City FC in AFC Cup. The Mariners have not found their perfect formation and they tend to experiment a lot. They will be looking to go into the ISL with a clean slate and the motivation to get off to a good start.

Chennaiyan are also having some issues with the last two ISL season ending in disaster. They are however coming with a new coach Thomas Brdaric and some great signings like Anirudh Thapa. They will be looking to hit the Mariners on the counter and can start with five at the back. The team from Chennai will also be looking to get a positive start to the season.

As both teams will be looking to start the season with minimal damage, we can expect a very cagey match in the first half. The teams will be looking to read the opposition and hit them at any chance. We can expect less than 2.5 goals in the game. Chennaiyan with a double chance is the most likely scenario as far as the result of this game is concerned. We also don't expect both teams to score.
